The RAK

Every Emirate has their Sheikh with their standard photo. Notice the RAK Sheikh with the awesome "Simpson's" arab photo. Imagine if this guy was you Ruler... Lets party. (click photo to see the rad photo of Happy Sheikh a bit closer. He rules! Literally.)

Ras Al Khaimah is the Northern most Emirates and is next to the Sultanate of Oman. It is the ‘wild west’ of the UAE. It makes up less than 3% of the country and it holds about 100,000 citizens.



I drove up to visit Barracuda to score some booze but this time I took Vivi with me and we wanted to see more of the country. On the way north we stopped to take some photos of some camels and we saw the coast. There suddenly was a mountain range in view, hidden behind some dusty sky, we tried but literally did not get a good shot. We could not get too close, or we would have had to cross a rather harry boarder and do it with a hottie in a tank top and no passports.



We scored the booze. We were stuck in Sharjah traffic for 1 hour. We saw some wild Camels. I let Vivi drive the Tiida on some open roads which was an education. And we were reminded why we strive to someday return to a “free” nation. The RAK; It made up a full Saturday. I tried to see Iran from the shore, but we were not quite close enough.

The best part of the RAK is that they are planning to build a building that looks like as if the Death Star landed in the desert. It is a giant sphere with the circle cut out in it like the giant planet gun on the thing. It is Awesome. I want this thing built right away, it will be super cool.
