What a party. The 7’s rocked. It was a blast. I met a guy who flew out just for it. I get it. If it was in Fresno I would drive up for it and buy a hotel room. It was awesome.
I “know” how to play rugby. But I really learned a great deal this weekend about the game.
South Africa won the Cup. They beat England 19 to 12 on the last play of the game, it was pretty crazy.
I won’t go through all the results but there are winners and losers brackets, and they play over and over for 3 days. Matches never stopped. 7 minute halves with a 1 minute half time. And then: Next! Again and again and again. It was non stop and even girls took the field to show their stuff.

The Kiwis, the Sheep Shaggers, the Brits and the South Africans all field pretty impressive teams. The Samoa team did not suck either, but what they had in size they lacked in speed. This is not 15 on 15 this is 7 on 7 and there is an ideal body type that you want to run out there, and it is much closer to linebacker than defensive tackle.

I drank Heineken, I was with a beautiful lady, I wore my Dodgers shirt and USA Soccer hat, there were babes all over, athletes in the field sacrificing their bodies, and not a single problem that I can remember. Good times. Check out the videos.

And as a side note, the USA won best of the worst. We beat a team of local who like hang out and drink together on the weekends. But I'll take it.

I asked Brent to handicap the event for me. He is a dedicated rugby player. I have even seen him play sevens before.
He picked South Africa w/out prompting. I should have put money down. He put the kiwis and aussies up there too. But he really thought that SA had the speed to dominate sevens.
