Well I went into work for 2.5 hours today and it ruled. It was productive and I cleaned the desk. Totally bitchen. When I go into work tomorrow the desk will be in order, which is a great feeling. Then I went over to IKEA one more time and bought a big orange rug. I thought about it for a while but now that it is down on the floor I am very happy with it. I am going with color. Basically that is what has been the entire approach. I lived in here for a week and it was all white and it was hard. Also I need fabric to soften it up. It is hard thought to put things on the walls, some of them are concrete block. Tacks don’t fly in concrete.

Now there are a good number of crazy building going up and I will get pictures of those. I need to spend a good 4 hours walking Sheikh Zayed road to get the nice ones. There are some other good shots I need to take on the creek. But I am really attracted to this old look modern use stuff that is around my immediate area. Arab revival is very clean and very cool. There is a good amount of that around the creek. The Sheikh wants that area to stay old school, but be new and clean, which is a great idea. Boat rides, Gold and Spice Souqs and walking parks all with low rise buildings with wind towers and natural colors. What the master, FLLW would call “helping hands from home.” Which for the none architect means local materials only. That is why he is best, he applied this philosophy around the world. His California homes look nothing like the mid-west, let alone Japan.
I noticed as I am uploading video that my Old Town Starbucks video has been viewed over 750 times. Wow. Crazy. I don’t know why that one per say, I hope it is not the word Starbucks. But the truth is, it is a good video. Humor, architecture, and hot chicks.
It seems I better get my ass to church. According to the poll, everyone wants mom to know I go to mass. I will work on it mom. Know that I work Sundays, so it will have to be Friday or Saturday. I think Jesus is paying attention all the time, so the day of the week is kind of a trivial thing. This place is not like Europe or Peru, where the Church is build first and the city around it. I have been told I can enter a Mosque as long as no mass or prayer session is happening. I will try and do that. I have seen some of the greatest churches in the world. Catholic anyway. Some really old ones too. I saw some Synagogues in Praha that were really old. Some of the oldest in all of Europe, that is not new my friend. I had to keep the head covered.
I went to a giant Ace Hardware today to just check it out. I found a chair for the balcony. I am walking with the Ace guy and totally out of the blue he is like “What do you think about Iran and what is going on?” I was caught a bit off guard. I don’t just bust into politics with strangers. This guy was like “I hope you (US) attack tonight. I don’t know what Gorge Bush is waiting for…” Rad. This guy was Indian, he did not ask if I was American, but he could tell, and he wants Iran to get wacked. My answer was I think they are a paper tiger and Israel will hit in the dead of night. I am not really worried about them, I think they talk a big game but can’t back it up. Especially with the bogus videos they released. Anyway, just to let people know back home, there are some people over there that want the US to kick butt and keep the madmen of the region in check, or better yet, put in there place.
OK time for a little Tiger Woods 2006. I love that game. Someday I will buy another one and find out what I am missing.
To answer Kelly’s question. The open house will be soon. You have to remember, to make brownies, I have to buy a backing dish to do so. I have to buy EVERYTHING right now. I have to go to the mall to buy Advil. And the mall is like an airport. To be fair, I was the one who brought it up. But I will make it happen. I am making contacts. I want to have more than just work people in here.
Time to have my night. Type at you later.

It seems like everything is BIGGER in Dubai. How big is the Bed, Bath, & Beyond?
On another note...the couch is in the garage. I purchased from the container store, patio furniture cushion storage bags. I'll let you know how it works, and send a photo soon.
hey uncle bill. just letting you know that i applied for my passport today, so i will be seeing you on christmas. also the quote of the month has a typeo its bare arms not bear arms(it remined me of the shirt you got me).
I love your decor going with color! clearly a country where white rules probably due to heat.Your photos of buildings are so interesting. On NBC news yesterday they did a blip on Abu Dabai. Billions being pounded into the let's build a city game. Beyond belief plans and action. It was interesting. The poll was correct on the last two. I actually was voting for the lonely bit knowing finding a Church over there might be tough, love you Mom
