The Brunette Heaven Untouchables

Going to the mall is about all I have had time to do outside of work. I don’t have a car and I have not had a weekend yet to explore so cut me a break. But the mall in Dubai is a bit different than in LA.

I live right next to what is called City Centre, and it has multiple levels, a few ramp conveyors so people pushing carts or strollers can change floors and a giant French supermarket place. It is like Pavilions and Wal-Mart combined.

I am what you call a Westerner. I am from the west. There are a number of us, families and singles. The rest of the globe seems to be represented as well. The food court is diverse and has an American influence with some names I recognize, I have yet to venture that way. I am trying to not eat anywhere that I have heard of before.

Native men wear all white gowns with a white head dress and a black head band. I am working on what the other color head gear means.

The native ladies all wear all black. Only their face can be seen. They are more often than not slim and beautiful. I saw one walking and eating a Krispy Kreme last night and just like ladies of the west, she was pretty happy with each little nibble. Gucci sunglass, expensive hand bags (Emily) and mobile phones everywhere.

Driving here is basically racing. The traffic lights are short and then once in the open you tail gate and haul ass. U-turn anywhere seems to work just fine. There was an article in the paper about how that practice is becoming very deadly and is a problem.

The newspaper is in color and very informative.

All types of cars, American, Euro and Japanese. I did not expect that. Taxis are mostly Toyota.

The entire city, that I have seen is under construction. Everywhere. Workers gather and then pile onto buses which take them to where ever their job site is.

My hotel has great service and TV sucks. I have not had a drink since British Airways. And without a car I don’t know where to find one. I will apply for a license to buy booze soon, don’t want that to be the first piece of paper I give to my employer. I need to pick up the application at one of two state liquor stores. I have not found either yet.

Gotta go, I have people to hire.

Bill - I hope you are finally having a beer somewhere and settling in! Once you get your drinking license (what?!#*?) let us all know how much a beer costs. Also, I think your next poll should be about the deserts of the world (largest or hottest or ?? something like that). Love you bro! xoxo sis kt
